Jay Park is a Korean-American singer born in Seattle, Washington.
He is a member of the b-boy group AOM (Art of Movement) and was also a member of a Korean idol group <2PM> from 2008-2009 as the charismatic leader.
He debuted on the M.net program 'Hot Blood Men' and received a lot of love with his cute looks. He acquired a large fan base during his days in <2PM> by featuring on various TV programs and gaining popularity in Asia.
In the second half of 2009, his post on 'MySpace' during his trainee days was spread through internet news with a mistranslation causing controversy and classifying his post as 'belittling Korea'.
He departed to the United States amidst a lot of controversy.
In March 2010, he uploaded a cover video of B.o.B's <Nothin' On You> on his YouTube channel. The video quickly spread and recorded more than 1.5 million views within the first day.
In along with its popularity, Warner Music Korea released a Jay Park version of the song, and also topped Korean music charts at No. 1.
With a boy-like charm and his good looks, explosive dance movies, and both singing and rapping skills, he is expected to become a new rising star in the US music industry.
He returned to Korea in June 2010 to film a movie <Hype Nation> about street dancing as one of the main characters.
He recorded a song from the <Hype Nation> OST called <Demon> and also was featured in the Korean movie <Mr. Idol>.
He was presented with the Best Web Video at the 4th Mashable Awards on January 6, 2011.
His first mini album <Take A Deeper Look> was released on April 27, 2011 which showed off different genres like hip-hop, dance, and R&B.
He wrote the lyrics for 7 songs off the album and produced 6 songs from the album.
He also filmed the music video for the title song <Abandoned> with the top music video director and choreographer.
He released <NEW BREED> on February 7, 2012 featuring 15 songs including 5 songs from <NEW BREED Part. 1> and the single <Girl Friend>.
On the same day, KT Tech's TAKE HD released <TAKE HD Special Maxi Album> which included 4 different version of his title song <Know Your Name>.
He is currently living in Korea.
He recently put out a free download of his mixtape <Fresh A!r:Breathe !t> on May 17, 2012.
In the second half of 2012, he is holding concerts and showcases in Korea, US, Japan, and other Asian countries and success is expected to continue.
